Several Christian leaders from across the city
of Cardiff are making preparations to celebrate the centenary
of the 1904 Welsh revival, through a project entitled '04
The City'. As part of these centenary celebrations, we aim
is to prepare 'the church of God in Cardiff' (1 Cor 1:2) for
what He wants to do in us and through us in the momentous
year that lies ahead.
We believe that 2004 presents us with a unique
opportunity to challenge God's people to rediscover His glory,
to return to Him in true repentance and renewal, and to reach
out in His name to multitudes of people in Cardiff and beyond,
who are still outside the Kingdom of God. How we long to see
God more visibly at work in our generation, as He has been
so powerfully in the past!
The preaching packs are available for
you to use in a way that best fits your own church programme.
Feel free to preach all or part of the suggested programme,
to adapt it as suits the needs of your church and to be flexible
regarding the proposed dates. The hope is simply that churches
across Cardiff will be preaching on the same revival themes,
at the same time to show our unity in the Gospel, with the
earnest prayer that God will use His inspired Word to set
our hearts on fire, for His kingdom in Cardiff!
We readily acknowledge that we cannot
'conjure up' revival through any programme or event. But let
us at least listen to God's voice as a church united under
the Gospel, and perhaps God's people will become more thirsty
for Him, and more jealous for His kingdom to come in our generation…
